The highlight this week has to be our clean sweep in Round 3 of the interclub competition held last night, with extremely good scores achieved by all teams. In the C Grade match, Erin Little achieved bonus points for the team with her 98.6, taking the team to 7 points at the halfway stage of the competition, against Wellington Central’s 5 points. Brooklyn finished 15 points ahead of Aotea in the B Grade match, with all team members scoring 95 or better. Top shot was Callum Osborne with 97.3. Wellington Central and Melrose both have 10 points, while Brooklyn has 5 points. The Open Grade team scored a very impressive 790.41, only a point below the record, and 13 points ahead of Wellington Central in this round. Pratik Tailor’s 200.16 (including 100.10 on one card) gave the team bonus points to lead the competition with 12 points ahead of Wellington Central on 5 points. Round 4 is on Thursday 6 July.
Only inners separated the three higher grade shooters at the club this week – Meredith Ackrill scored best with 99.7. Callum Osborne’s 97.3 was the highest B Grade score, followed by Craig Fair on 95.3. In C Grade Erin Little was top shot with 98.6, while Oscar Robinson and Hamish Guthrey scored 96.5 and 96.4 respectively. The top six D Graders this week were Anna 96.5, Qiyun Goh 96.3, Jack MacCormick 94.2, Rhys Mountain 94.1, Matthew Canlas 93.3 and Melchior Meares 93.2 – great shooting! In the 20-shot competition Pratik Tailor top scored with 200.16 followed by Meredith Ackrill on 198.10.
Round 1 Triple S Champs results are now available. In the teams competition, Samuel Marsden are currently 3rd while Wellington College are in 5th and 8th positions. Oscar Robinson is leading overall and in C Grade, while Georgia Karantze leads B Grade. Seven other Brooklyn shooters currently hold a “top 10” position in their grade. The deadline for Round 2 targets is Sunday 9 July.
The Wellington v Christchurch junior match was held on Tuesday night. Both teams shot exceptionally well, scoring 480.17 and 476.13, ahead of Christchurch on 467.10. Top shot overall was Summer O’Dwyer with 99.5 followed by Amalamo Simi with 97.4.
Also on Tuesday night, the Wellington women’s team competed against both Christchurch and Manawatu. The team result was a little lower than in previous years, finishing two points behind Christchurch. Erin Little and Summer O’Dwyer were equal top shots overall with 195.9. The Manawatu women’s team score will be available later in the season.
Many thanks to all those who helped out at the working bee at our Bell Road building on Saturday. A lot of tasks were undertaken including grass mowed, weeds sprayed, trees by road trimmed back, gutters cleaned, alleyway cleared, drain cleared, inside floor mopped.
Round 2 Wellington Closed Champs results have been distributed. Once again there were some excellent scores shot, particularly Erin Little with 100.6, a new PB and her first ever 100. Also Evan Little’s 99.8 and Craig Fair’s 99.5. Round 3 targets are due by 2 July.
Next Sunday evening we host the Interassociation D Grade competition which comprises 2x10-shot targets shot on designated squads at 8.00pm and 8.30pm. Club shooting will be available on all squads except these two.
